MTN Uganda is to help female vendors in Kampala to construct a day-care centre for their children.
MTN marketing manager Rita Okuthe said this on Saturday during the Yello Rose party in commemoration of the International Women’s Day. She said the day-care project was one of the Yello Rose projects.
Speaking to various groups of market vendors from Nakawa and Kampala central markets at St Balikuddembe market, Okuthe said MTN Yello Rose was committed to supporting women projects.
Businesswoman and mother of MTN chairman, Tereza Mbire, 71, urged the women to develop a savings culture.
“Be very careful not to use up your capital. Before you start any business, you need to gauge the market first,” Mbire advised.
She advised women not to forget their families after excelling. Mbire urged the vendors to widen their business scope and avoid relying on one small business.
The founder of Market Vendors AIDS Project, Angelina Wapakhabulo, commended MTN, saying going to St. balikuddembe market was a phobia to many people.
Sales were boosted as MTN Yello Rose women shopped various items from the women.
