RETIRED Mbale District Sports Officer Yusuf Watuwa has called on government to invest heavily in sports facilities throughout the country as one way of providing employment opportunities for young people, reports Joseph Wanzusi in Mbale.

Watuwa was speaking at Mbale Sport Club where Mbale Tigers Table Tennis Club was welcoming back its two players Amina Kibone and Aisha Nambozo from the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia.

He said schools should identify and groom sportspersons because today sports is today a source of livelihood in many countries adding that sports prepares a person for life

Watuwa said sports promotes patriotism citing the Dorcus Inzikuru and Boniface Kiprop’s victory at the games.

Relating their experiences at the games, Kibone and Nambozo said although they could not win any medal, the competition exposed them to great experiences.
