What are the chances of a man producing kids after he was burnt with water in the lower abdomen when he was still young?

Do burns affect fertility in men?
Dear Doctor,
What are the chances of a man producing kids after he was burnt with water in the lower abdomen when he was still young?
D

Dear D,

The capacity for a man to be fertile (produce kids) boils down to the ability to produce viable sperms and deliver them to the woman. Sperms are found in the fluid of ejaculation (semen). They are produced from the testes. When the testes are well developed and one ejaculates normal sperms, that man is fertile. The other need is for the man to be able to have an erection and ejaculate in the woman’s vagina. This is not critical, because other ways can be found to deliver the sperms. I believe the chances for the person above would be good. If there is any question, he should visit a doctor to have a medical check. A laboratory test called semen analysis is done to make sure the sperms are okay.

Swelling in my groin
Dear Doctor,
I was given Dexamethasone and Griseofluvin for a fungus problem that was itching. I got the same itching after shaving hair around my privates. I used the same tablets and the itching stopped. Now a small swelling in the groin has developed. What can be the problem?
Vincent

Dear Vincent,

Griseofulvin is a drug that treats skin and hair fungus. Dexamethasone is a steroid. It is not usually prescribed for fungus because it is a steroid and can have severe side effects.
When you shaved your pubic hair, you may have got infection into the hair follicles.
This would explain the itching. The small swelling could be a lymph node that was infected by draining this infection from the shaved area.
Your choice of drugs after shaving was not good. But if the swelling is going down, don’t worry.
To prevent infection after shaving,

  • Bathe first with soap and water to remove most bacteria.

  • Use a new shaving blade every time.

  • Apply an after shave or antiseptic cream after shaving.

  • This may prevent itching and infections. Don’t use tablets without prescription.

    My body itches
    Dear Doctor,
I developed some infection on the lower part of my stomach just below the umbilical cord. It is so itchy, especially during hot weather. what is this?
    Kenny

    Dear Kenny,
What you call an infection may not be so. It may be an allergic reaction to the metal of your belt buckle (the metal part at the front of your belt). The buckle touches your skin below the umbilicus (navel) when you bend at the waist. When you develop an allergic reaction to the buckle, the skin it touches becomes itchy. In hot weather, your sweat dissolves more of the buckle metal, making the itching worse. You develop a skin reaction: a rash. Scratching may lead to infection and a wound.
Stopping the use of the belt will stop the irritation. The rash will heal and everything will go back to normal. You should not touch that particular metal again. If this does not work, visit a doctor for further help.
