Do they still hold general meetings? If not, who should we look to as artists who have been
marginalised by society? Certainly the government cannot help us!

SIR — I wish to thank your reporter, Steven Ssenkaaba for the good work he is doing on issues concerning art. i also advise him to report on other aspects of art rather than only exhibitions. For example he can look out for intellectual discussions to help develop healthy debate on art and its role in a contemporary and backward economy such as Uganda’s. Steven, keep up the good work.

SIR — many visual artists in Uganda aim at making money only rather than offering the people their creative and intellectual potential.
This is killing Uganda’s art! Art should promote our image at home and abroad but instead intrigue carries the day. Can’t artists in Uganda learn to work in cooperation for the greater good of this country?
