HUYTON Parish Church of United Kingdom has donated 47 fully connected computers to Mukono diocesan primary schools, Mukono bishop the Rt. Rev. Paul Luzinda has said.
Luzinda said 40 of the computers would be distributed to 40 schools, while seven will be kept for administrative work at the diocesan offices.
He said he also created twining relationships with UK churches that pledged funding to the diocese on his visit to Liverpool recently.
“Our (church) schools will now have a competitive edge over Government and privately-owned schools that have been offering computer lessons and attracting more pupils,” Luzinda said recently.
He said the computers would also ease communication because the schools had been using obsolete typewriters that were tiresome to operate.
Luzinda criticised parents, saying most of them have misunderstood the Bona Basome (education for all) scheme and deserted their responsibilities. He said parents have left buying stationery, uniforms and feeding their children to the Government, which was wrong.
