KAYUNGA — A Police officer is being held in connection with the murder of a man on Easter Sunday. Constable Julius Balazeewa, attached to Ntenjeru local administration Police, was arrested over the shooting of Sukia Sukiri, a farmer at Kanjuki village. District Police commander Charles Musana said after investigations, Balazeewa would be prosecuted in courts of law.

Murder trial
KAMPALA — City Hall Court magistrate Esther Nambayo has committed a woman to the High Court over the murder of a two-year-old boy. Veronica Akech, 27, of Kalerwe, is suspected to have killed Lousi Othieno on November 10. Resident State Attorney Josephine Namatovu told court that Akech had a misunderstanding with the boy’s mother, Robinah Bah-angule, which could have motivated the murder.

Mother held
IGANGA — The Police are holding a 22-year-old mother from Bulopa village, on suspicion that she dumped her baby girl on a rubbish pit on Easter Sunday. A witness said Carol Nabwire abandoned a huge bag at the Saza Road dumping site but immediate cries of a baby emanating from the bag made onlookers to apprehend her.

Suspect killed
IGANGA — A mob from Nondwe trading centre in Bugweri county descended on the local Police post on Saturday, grabbed a suspect from custody and lynched him. Peter Musisi, a Police constable at the Police post, on Sunday said the unidentified suspect had been arrested in the wee hours of the morning removing parts from a vehicle.
