THE Mengo government has written to President Yoweri Museveni maintaining its stance against the regional tier and renewing its demand for a federal status.

The Lukiiko also passed a resolution for Katikkiro Dan Muliika to meet President Yoweri museveni and rekindle buganda’s quest for federo.

However, the Mengo Lukiiko was yesterday jolted by reports that a covert lobby calling itself ‘Rapid Action’ had collected signatures from some districts in buganda to endorse what it has termed “The Charter of Buganda Kingdom.”

Muliika told the Lukiiko at Bulange yesterday that ‘Rapid Action’ had got approval from the districts of Kalangala, Kiboga, Masaka, Mpigi and Mubende.

He said the group was motivated by wishful thinking to taint the image of the Kabaka, his cabinet and the Lukiiko so that there appears to be approval for the detested regional tier.

Muliika dismissed reports that the Lukiiko was meeting to review its rejection of the regional tier as contained in the Constitutional amendment of 2005.

He also dismissed the purported “Charter of Buganda” sold stealthy at sh1,000.

Muliika criticised information state minister Dr. James Nsaba Buturo, who was quoted as saying the Government was not aware of Mengo’s demands.
