<b>Refs re-train</b><br>FOLLOWING recent incidents in which referees have been banned and others forced into resignation, a beginners refereeing course has been instituted to make available more officials for the game.

FOLLOWING recent incidents in which referees have been banned and others forced into resignation, a beginners refereeing course has been instituted to make available more officials for the game. Former FIFA referee and Uganda Football Referee Association chairman (UFRA) Charles Masembe will conduct the one week course that starts today at Nakivubo stadium.

Edgars starts
EDGARS Youth Programme will open a two-week soccer clinic for boys and girls aged 5-18 in a bid to identify a team for a further training camp in Cologne during the 2006 FIFA World Cup. The youth programmes’ boss Edgar Watson said yesterday that the holiday clinic that runs April 24 - May 12 will have daily training sessions on week days at Aga Khan School grounds.

KFF coach
KENYA football governing body KFF has announced a shortlist of three local coaches for interviews to for the top job in the national team Harambee Stars. Federation secretary general Dan Omino named the trio as Jacob “Ghost” Mulee, James Siang’a and Tom Olaba. The three have all handled the team before.

Masaka win 7-0

DEFENDING champions Masaka pounded Kangai SS 7-0 in the opening match of National Post Primary Girls Schools Football Championship in Lira yesterday. The event drew nine teams from Luwero, Kampala, Jinja, Lira, Busia and Apac. FUFA’s Justus Mugisha and NCS’ Timothy Semakula Magala attended.
