THE construction of a modern synthetic hockey pitch at Lugogo has hit a snag due to a delay in delivery of a carpet from abroad.

Hockey officials have blamed the delay by government to respond to a request to waive tax on the synthetic carpet that is waiting shipment from UK.

The sh500m project sponsored by the International Olympic Committee in conjunction with the International Hockey Federation is handled by Agoli Investments.

“Everything is pending because the carpet has to be laid straight away on arrival. It doesn’t need to be stored. So we are only waiting for clearance,” said Uganda Hockey Association secretary Harriet Sanyu.
