AS the Uganda Cricket Association recalled Richard Mwami and Henry Okecho for national team manager and coach respectively, U-19 team manager Justine Ligyalingi opted not to have another term with the youngsters.

Ligyalingi, who led the boys to their second youth World Cup in Sri Lanka in February, said he was too busy for the job but would continue serving cricket in other capacities.

“It has been nice dealing with the youngsters but I have a lot of work on my desk. I believe I can continue serving in various low demanding capacities,” Ligyalingi acknowledged.

At the 16-team youth World Cup in Sri Lanka, Uganda managed a win against Scotland finishing 14th at their second appearance after Bangladesh in 2004.

Mwami and Okecho, who were in charge of the squad that toured Ireland for the dreadful ICC 2007 World Cup qualifiers last year, were recalled to manage the team that will play against Kenya in the four one-day international friendly matches and a two-day match at Lugogo oval next month.
Meanwhile, with barely a week to the first game of the national Castle Lager league, cricket ace Kenneth Kamyuka has quit Tornado B and will now play for Africa Cricket Club (ACC).

The bowler has dropped veteran William Kibuka Musoke’s side saying he has little time to play local cricket and it would not be meaningful for him to sign a binding contract with Tornado B.

“I will not be in Uganda most of the time because of the various semi-professional assignments in England and South Africa. It is not worth signing a contract with Tornado B but I can play for ACC when I am available,” Kamyuka revealed.
