Lawyers for MP Aggrey Awori have written to the Speaker of Parliament, saying Samia Bugwe North MP-elect Stephen Mugeni Wasike should not be sworn in following a court injunction.
Semuyaba, Iga & company Advocates said Awori, who lost the recent elections to Mugeni, filed an application that has been fixed for hearing and final disposal on June 13 before the High Court in Mbale. MPs will be sworn in on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Minister hails

tourism, trade and industry minister Daudi Migereko has commended the eastern region youth for electing Zaake Kibedi Wanume as their MP. Migereko, who headed the taskforce that campaigned for Kibedi, the NRM candidate, said he had the leadership abilities to unite the youth and create development.
Kibedi beat six others during the polls at the YMCA Hall in Jinja.

FDC begins

THE FDC party has started door-to-door campaigns early enough to strengthen it ahead of the 2011 polls, the rukungiri district FDC chief has said. Roland Kaginda said on Saturday that FDC lost the recent elections because it failed to reach people at the grassroots.

Town asks
RESIDENTS of Rubaare town in Ntungamo district have asked the government to promote the area to a town board, LC3 chief Francis Natukunda said on Monday, reports Rwambuka Mugisha.
