THE national motocross team will spice up the UMC Sprint at Garuga double-track circuit this Sunday.

The team of 25 riders in the 125cc, 85cc, 65cc, 55cc and Open class will entertain spectators as they test the track ahead of the East African Motocross Challenge slated for May 28 at the same venue.
“It’s a good training opportunity for the team. We have upgraded the track to international standard.

There are now double jumps which are more challenging and spectacular,” team leader Arthur Blick remarked. The motocross event is sponsored by United Assurance, Fresh Cuts, Bluesky International, TOTAL Uganda, AON Insurance, Nalubale Rafting and Regency Hotel, Kampala.

The UMC sprint has so far attracted 16 drivers who will be racing in pairs on the double track.

Top guns Ponsiano Lwakataka (Subaru N 4), Ronald Ssebuguzi (Mitsubishi Evo4) and Omar Mayanja (Mitsubishi Evo4) will take centre stage.

The sprint will count towards the 2006 Clubman Rally Championship (CRC).
