LUMUMBA won the first bull roasting rights at Makerere last week, ending four years in which inter-hall games were suspended because of indiscipline and match fixing. Cycling was the last of 20 events which Lumumba won. Nkrumah were second at 583 followed by Mitchell (532), Nsibirwa (510), Livingstone (487) and University Hall finishing last at 424 in the men.

Gabon invites
UGANDA has been invited to the inaugural Africa Cup of Nations boxing tournament in Libreville, Gabon July 12-22. The event aimed at curbing the deteriorating standards of boxing on the continent is expected to attract top boxing nations Nigeria, Morocco and Egypt. The championship will also serve as a build up for the Africa Boxing championship and All Africa Games next year.

Atraco pleads
RWANDA league leaders Atraco have formally requested for the international transfer certificates for SC Villa’s trio of Godfrey Kateregga, Emmanuel Balyejusa and Morley Byekwaso. The Primus League side’s appeal to local body FUFA follows pressure from Rwanda’s FERWAFA regarding fielding any Ugandan player without an ITC.

Busienei bags
WILSON Busienei and Mildred Chebosis have been named sportsmen of Ndejje University for their 2005 performance. Busienei was voted for his triple gold medal haul at the World University Games in Turkey. Chebosis won a double at the MTN Inter University Games. A total of 21 sportsmen in 12 disciplines were recognised.
