Six firms have bid for the supply of ballot papers to the Electoral Commission (EC) for sub-country councillors and directly-elected women councillors.

Robert Boolekwa, the EC’s procurement officer, opened the bids for Lithotec, Prime Concepts, Picfare Industries, Smith and Ousman, Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation and Global Supplies on Monday at the EC’s offices in Kampala.

Joshua Wamala of the EC’s contracts committee chaired the session.

The price schedules were checked and ranged from sh199m to sh285m and sh617m to sh829m for the sub-county and women councillors respectively.

Wamala said, “The evaluation will start soon and we hope the selection will be ready by next week. We will communicate to the bidders by the beginning of next week according to the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority’s rules.”

He said the elections would be on June 29.

Four of the six bidders turned up for the opening.
