OVER 100 vendors who operate on the roadside in Kalerwe are to be evicted, the Kawempe division chief, Nasser Takuba, has said.

Takuba said on Friday the eviction would improve sanitation in the area and in Kalerwe market in particular.

He said the traders had been warned several times against operating on the roadsides but were defiant.

“Traders are only allowed to operate from the gazetted market at Kalerwe. Those who are operating on the roadside are causing poor sanitation. They dump garbage anyhow and anywhere,” Takuba said.

He said eviction would follow the swearing-in of a new council.
Takuba swore in on Friday.
Kalerwe is in a sanitation crisis with mud and garbage rotting in the area.
