CECAFA kings Police Football Club will get a red carpet reception on their return from Tanzania today.
Their triumphant return is expected to climax with a state dinner hosted by President Yoweri Museveni before the week ends.

Inspector General of Police Maj. Gen. Kale Kayihura will receive the team at Entebbe airport at 8.00am before a reception at Kibuli later in the day.

Kayihura was excited by Sunday’s victory over Tanzanian club Morogoro and confirmed a ‘big welcome’ awaits his ‘boys’.

“Yes, they are set to dine with the president. It is state House organising that. You will receive a full briefing tomorrow. We will be receiving them in style,” said Kayihura.

After both sides had tied 1-1 in the regular 90 minutes, Tony Mawejje scored the winning goal five minutes into extra time. Dan Walusimbi had scored for Police before Julius Mkope equalised for Moro.

SC Villa were also hosted to a state dinner after they won the same trophy last year.

FUFA president Lawrence Mulindwa watched the final, and has already offered the team, that was making their debut, $2,000 (sh3.6m).

They won the top prize of $30,000 (sh54m) offered by Rwanda president Paul Kagame, sponsor of the tournament.
