The Inspector General of Government (IGG), Justice Faith Mwondha, has warned fraudsters that she will not waver in her hunt for them because she is not a mere barking dog.

Mwondha criticised politicians implicated in cases of corruption or found guilty of flouting the Leadership Code and have questioned the IGG’s powers.

She said the National Objectives and Directive Principles of State Policy enshrined in the Constitution demanded that “all lawful measures shall be taken to expose, combat and eradicate corruption and abuse of power by those holding political offices.”

“And someone says the IGG doesn’t have powers? What are you talking about?” Mwondha asked.

“I don’t just bark. I bite, because I am using lawful measures (to eradicate corruption),” she added.

Mwondha was presiding over the launch of the “Legislative and Police Measures for Combating Corruption in Uganda” report at Grand Imperial Hotel in Kampala yesterday.

The report on the practical challenges of compliance with the Africa Union anti-corruption convention was published by the African Parliamentarians network against Corruption – Uganda Chapter in collaboration with transparency International.

Mwondha said for the war against graft to be won, it needs not to be politicised.

She disagreed with legislators who say opposition MPs should lead the parliamentary onslaught against corruption because the country is now under multipartyism.
