SPECIAL Revenue Protection Service (SRPS) has impounded smuggled and counterfeit goods worth over sh150m in a two-day operation on the Kampala-Busia road.

SPECIAL Revenue Protection Service (SRPS) has impounded smuggled and counterfeit goods worth over sh150m in a two-day operation on the Kampala-Busia road.

SRPS information and public relation officer, Lt. Bahoku Barigye, told reporters during a guided tour of Bukoto and Nakawa premises where the goods were kept on Tuesday that 36 cartoons of counterfeit Bic pens worth sh5m were impounded in a Rubaga residence after a tip-off on Monday.

The pens bore ‘Made in Sweden’ labels but with Kenya Bureau of Standards logo.

Barigye said vehicles carrying polythene bags worth sh12m and 48,000 litres of neutral spirit used for manufacturing liquor worth over sh100m were seized at Lugazi.
