TWENTY-nine senior CID officers were yesterday shuffled. Moses Sakira, the serious crime chief at CID headquarters, is the new Kampala CID chief.

Sakira reverts to the post he has held twice before and up to two years ago when he led a contingent of 20 senior police officers on a UN peacekeeping mission in Liberia under the UN Mission in Liberia.

Kampala CID chief George Kanonko, who took over from Sakira two years ago, now goes to CID headquarters. He will be deployed by the CID director.

J. M. Okwir was moved from CID headquarters as Eastern region CID chief, while Lawrence Ebwosu, who until recently was on suspension, was redeployed to Kampala Central Police Station.

Ebwosu was among six senior police officers suspended from the northwestern region early this year to pave way for investigations of election violence in Adjumani district, which claimed the life of a contestant.

Police spokesman Frederick Yiga said the transfers were routine and took immediate effect.

Charles Tumwesigye, who has been O/C serious crime Kampala and acting deputy Kampala CID chief, is now deputy CID chief Kampala.

In the transfer, Haruna Ntambi and Paul Kato, who have been regional CID officer southwestern and central regions, were confirmed substantive CID bosses respectively.

Kato will be deputised by Zake Okot, while Christopher Kweri takes over as the in-charge general crime Mbarara.

Grace Akullo moves from CID headquarters to become the new CID boss Kiira Road Police Station and George Odwar of Hoima moves to Mbarara as the Economics Crime chief.
