The construction of an embassy building in the southern Sudanese city of Juba awaits the release of US$60,000 by the finance ministry, sources said yesterday.

Emmy Allio reports that the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM)-led Government donated land to Uganda for the embassy.
foreign affairs minister Sam Kutesa recently requisitioned for the money from the finance ministry.
The Ugandan consulate is currently housed in a section of the dilapidated Juba hotel in the city centre.
The office is a small room with unpainted wooden doors and widows and a broken ceiling.
Uganda’s consul to Juba, Busho Ndinyenka, said, “Once the funds are released, we shall decide whether to build or purchase a building and renovate it.â€
He said the foreign affairs ministry had approached the National Housing and Construction corporation with a proposal to construct the building.
Following the Comprehensive Peace Agreement last year, Uganda was the first to open a consulate in Juba, followed by the US, Norway, Kenya and South Africa.
