TOLREANCE and co-existence are vital in creating peace and development in a multiparty system which Uganda has adopted, Parliament Speaker Edward Ssekandi has said.

“I am sure that the multiparty system will succeed if politicians learn to tolerate each others’ divergent views,” Ssekandi noted.

“We should work towards having a peaceful country where every Ugandan is proud of being a citizen. For the amnesty to be meaningful, it requires people whose noses and mouths were chopped off by the LRA rebels to be tolerant to their tormentors,” he said.

He was yesterday receiving a peace flag from the Always Be Tolerant (ABETO) chairperson Moses Musana. The Netherlands ambassador, Yoka Brandt, attended.
