What a nice way to be smart and save energy! Well, this was a passionate way the energy topic last Monday was introduced to pupils of Ecole de Française (French School), Lugogo. This was during a tour study at the Uganda Industrial Research Centre in Nakawa.
Fourteen pupils led by their teacher, Gereld Serts, participated in the tour organised by the ministry of energy and mineral development.
They learnt different types of energy and best ways on how to save energy. Children also learnt how to light a firewood stove. Ritah Mubbala, a project officer in the energy ministry urged children to share the lessons they had learnt with their parents and friends to develop the culture of saving energy. Philippe Simonis, an energy advisor in the energy ministry encouraged parents to take their children to the centre for lessons every holiday.
All participants got beautiful T-shirts and caps written on, “Be Smart, Save Energy”. All children were outstanding as they asked tough questions.
