SIR —I am surprised that the alleged theft of crucial documents belonging to the DFC, if true, can be taken so lightly. How can a criminal offence of such a scale be taken so lightly by the FDC and the CID especially when the prime suspect, Ofwono Opondo, has once been implicated in a theft case?

I am beginning to think that the allegation by Salaam Musumba is not true or the documents allegedly stolen are not very important. mere reporting to the police cannot be enough.
All this has reminded me of the infamous watergate scandal that led to the resignation of President Richard Nixon and prosecution of a number of his top aides.
