Arua sweeps MAYANK meet

WOMEN sprinters and middle distance runners led Arua to victory in the second edition of the MTN sponsored MAYANK meet here Saturday. The district won a trophy and sh0.5m courtesy of the sponsors.

New names dominated the women events in the one day championship at the Inzikuru stadium.
Arua was the only district of the six in the region to get over double digit figures (156 points men, 196 women). Moyo, Yumbe and Nebbi failed to score a point.
The meet attracted over 20 teams from as far as Kakira, but apart from the individual athletes winning cash prizes, only the West Nile district could contest for the overall cash prizes given to the top three teams.
On the track, Jimmy Adar for the first time in five races, managed to beat Simon Ayeko in the 1500m race.
