THE objectives of the National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) will not be achieved unless authorities fight corruption that is threatening to kill the programme, the deputy resident district commissioner of Bushenyi has said.

THE objectives of the National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) will not be achieved unless authorities fight corruption that is threatening to kill the programme, the deputy resident district commissioner of Bushenyi has said.

Chris Ahimbisibwe reports that Patrick Kawamara on Thursday said, “There is corruption in NAADS programmes and we shall fight it.”

He was speaking during the Bushenyi district NAADS annual review meeting at Katungu Mothers’ Union Centre.

Kawamara said they had received reports that NAADS coordinators, who buy goats for the project, inflate the prices.

“This is a government programme. Let it not be left to certain groups of people only. All of us have to be involved,” Kawamara said.

He added, “We are not interested in coming here to take tea and sodas. This is a government programme meant for fighting poverty.”
