PETER ‘Boyz Boyz’ Semogerere raised his stake for an Africa Boxing Union (ABU) title with a stunning six round stoppage of Tanzanian Said Chidi at Lugogo on Sunday.

Semogerere showed the mammoth crowd at Lugogo his worth after rocking the Tanzanian.

Chidi could not stand it any longer in the sixth round after Semo, as he is popularly called, landed a flurry of punches sending him reeling on the canvass.

The victory opened up Sumo chances for an Africa Boxing Union (UBU) lightweight title fight.

Flyweight Hood Nsubuga beat Robert Semboze in the boxing bonanza that for the first time combined amateur boxing trials.

It was organised by Eastside Promotions in conjunction with Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation (UABF) and Naguru-based East Coast boxing club.

Meanwhile, Uganda Professional Boxing Commission (UPBC) president Celestine Mindra will officiate a world title fight in New Jersey, USA, July 22.

The WBC welterweight fight pits champion Carlos Baldomir (Argentina) against challenger Arturo Gatti of Canada.

“I’m honoured,” said Mindra yesterday at a party for UK-based Jackson Asiku, here on holiday.
