THE new national coach Laszlo Csaba is to get $70,000 (sh130m) annually for the four years he will spend as Uganda national teams coach. Csaba will handle the senior Cranes team and all other age group teams according to the contract signed on Monday.

The coach, who was unveiled to the press by FUFA on Monday, had earlier signed a contract supervised by his agent Antonio Carlo and FUFA legal officer Fred Muwema and was presented to the education and sports ministry for approval.

“The pay is going to be $70,000 for the whole year. It is the net earning as other allowances will depend on the situation,” said a source, echoing earlier claims that the country was looking for a coach who will be paid not beyond $6,000 per month as this is what Uganda can afford.

Sports state minister Charles Bakkabulindi earlier disclosed that there was a ceiling agreed upon with the members of the scrutinising committee set up by the local federation.

“Discussions of who will meet the cost will be finalised later but for the start, we know that this is the amount he is going to get,” added the source.

Csaba (right), on his first coaching stint in Africa, expects a car but it is not yet clear if he is to be allocated the one formerly used by sacked Egyptian tactician Mohammed Abbas. FUFA is yet to contact national Council of Sports (NCS) the custodians of the car.

“Yes, we have been speaking over phone but I advised them (FUFA) to make a formal communication to us over the matter. The property is under council’s hands and we need a reference before we release it,” explained Jasper Aligawesa, NCS general secretary over the development.
