SIR — On July 1 the Sunday Vision had a cartoon reference to the article that ran on June 26 titled “Oxfam employee on Kony’s peace team”.

The cartoon character was stating that Oxfam was part of the LRA peace team. Oxfam would like to reiterate its position once again that no member of our staff is engaged in the current peace negotiations in Juba.

Our office in Uganda issued a clarification to this effect, and the New Vision published a letter was published on June 29. We would like to clarify that Mr. Sunday Ochaya is not and has never been an employee of Oxfam in either Kitgum or Juba. Oxfam GB is a non-partisan organisation whose main purpose is to work with others to find lasting solutions to poverty and suffering around the world.

Together with partners, volunteers, supporters and staff of many nationalities we believe that we are part of a global movement to build a just and safer world.
These are principles that members of staff working with Oxfam uphold and are expected to abide by.

Oxfam would request that when a clarified position to an article is issued by an organisation, further references that are made to that particular story should reflect the corrected position. Oxfam does not wish to be referred to as being part of the LRA peace delegation.
