THE Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) executive committee has been summoned for a two-day meeting to discuss and settle land wrangles.

UMSC chairman Ali Adrama has circulated invitation letters to 45 members to attend the meeting on July 28 and 29.

Top on the agenda is to discuss and settle the land wrangles in which tycoon Hassan Basajjabalaba is accused of selling UMSC property without the notice of the executive members.

Mufti Sheikh Shaban Mubajje, who is to attend as an ex-officio, denied sanctioning the leasing of the council’s land at Old Kampala and in Luzira to Basajjabalaba as alleged.

He said he only approved leasing to Basajjabalaba plots 30 and 102 on William Street in Kampala.

He implicated his deputy, Sheikh Twaibu Mukuye, Adrama and secretary general Edris Kasenene for convening a meeting that approved leasing the properties to Basajjabalaba, who is alleged to have sub-leased plots 30 and 102 to city businessman Drake Lubega.
