Tanzanian champ for MOSAC rally

TANZANIA national champion Saleh Balahbou will grace the MOSAC rally slated for August 5-6. The 24-year-old Saleh will make the trip with three other Stado Rally teammates.

TANZANIA national champion Saleh Balahbou will grace the MOSAC rally slated for August 5-6. The 24-year-old Saleh will make the trip with three other Stado Rally teammates.

Omar Bakhressa (Subaru N11), Ahmed Huwel (Subaru N10) and 60-year-old Pano Calavarius (Subaru N10) are on the Dar es Salaam-based team expected in Kampala. Ugandan Moses Matovu is Pano’s co-driver.

MOSAC Rally clerk of course Kenneth Kitariko (below) said the Tanzanians confirmed participation early this week. “It’s going to be an exciting race. It will be more of a showdown between Ugandans and our Tanzanian brothers who have proved a force to reckon with in the region.

“The special stage format is going to make the race even more thrilling. Spectators and competitors alike will enjoy the rally,” Kitariko commented.

The rally, comprising three short stages that will be repeated several times and will run at Kira in Wakiso for the first leg and Jomayi housing estates at Seguku, for the second leg.

Jomayi Property Consultants, Lion Insurance, Daks Couriers, Lindsay Cottages, Infinite Uganda, Life and Property Security, Uhuru Catering Services and Uganda Grass-root Initiative are sponsors of the fourth round of the National Rally Championship. Motorsport Africa Club (MOSAC) are organisers of the two-day rally.
