MADRASA Resource Centre has launched advocacy education materials for pre-primary schools and early childhood development.
Speaking at the launch at Mengo recently, state minister for Primary Education, Peter Lokeris, said the materials would help reduce shortages of proficient resources schools.
“With the shortage, these materials will contribute in filling the gap,” he said.
The materials, he said, would also help the Government to mainstream early childhood development approaches in their programme.
He said, “The materials will increase the chances of children from under privileged communities to have access to formal education.”
“The nature of the environment where children grow determines their educational performance as they advance.
“The environment needs to be conducive to support children’s health and also enable them develop a sense of self worth, identity, confidence and self-esteem and provide them with the opportunity to learn,” Lokeris said.
Al Nasir Viran, the chairman of the resource centre, said the programme is geared towards providing a community-based pre-school education for the underprivileged children.
The materials were produced using the financial support from the BEPS/Super project of ministry of Education and Sports and USAID.
