NATIONAL Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has sacked nine managers from Mbarara after causing a sh80m financial loss.
The area manager, Joseph Kamu, area accountant Francis Nyeko, commercial officer Robert Mwebembezi and area operations officer, Muhumuza among others had been suspended as investigations for alleged corruption and abuse of office took place.
NWSC’s managing director Dr. William Muhairwe said, “We have sacked them after thorough investigations we carried out assisted by the office of Inspector General of Government.
Muhairwe said the dismissed officers would lose their benefits that will be used to cover the loss.
“We apologise to our clients for the inconvenience caused. The team will serve and restore the good image of NWSC,” he said.
“The managers were hiring contractors, paying them for materials and fittings that were got from NWSC’s stores,” Muhairwe said.
