THE Uganda Breweries (UBL) through its Senator Lager brand has launched the 2006 Senator National Cultural Music Extravaganza which is expected to traverse 80 counties and 40 districts, tapping Uganda’s rich cultural potential with an experiential show tagged; “Our Land, Our Culture.”
Arthur Bagunywa, the Buganda Kingdom culture minister, launched an-all-cultural affair at the National Theatre last week.
Bagunywa hailed UBL for seeking to recognise and reward cultural talents.
He said Uganda’s rich cultural traits had made it a beautiful destination for tourists.
Baker Magunda, the UBL managing director, said the company values Uganda’s rich cultures which are beautifully exuded in its cultural music.
Busoga’s Muwewesi Xylophone Cultural Group are the defending champions of the extravaganza launched last year, Bryan Muwonge, the Senator brand manager, said.
He said a team of experienced music adjudicators and heads of music departments at Kyambogo University, Kaliro NTC and Makerere University will form the panel of judges during the competitions.
Up to sh340m would be spent during the countrywide competitions, Muwonge said at the launch ceremony.
