TEN rural primary schools in Wakiso district have twinned with grade one schools in Kampala to improve their performance in Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).

The project was launched recently by Edward Musiime, the district secretary for education at Mwererwe Catholic Primary School.

Addressing head teachers, Musiime said the twinning programme would enable rural schools compete with the first-world schools in Kampala.

“This cannot be achieved overnight but we should address challenges like time management, teamwork and leading by example,” he said.

Aida Lubwama, the acting district education officer, said the concept of twinning had been known between towns like Entebbe, Mukono and some international cities but had not featured in the education sector.
