RAINFALL may hamper foodstuff supply from the rural areas to Kampala major markets, The New Vision weekly survey has shown.
Traders said the rains would cause a transportation burden as roads become impassable.
This may push prices up, traders said.

“The harvesting period that has increased foodstuff quantities may be hindered by the ongoing rains. This will cause prices to go up because trucks would not easily access the rural producers,” said a trader.

The trader said supply would also reduce because producers (farmers) would keep some produce for the planting season causing shortage in Kampala markets.

Traders pointed out maize and beans would be affected. However, prices were still stable as maize was sold at sh200 a kilo, maize flow was at sh600 on average while beans and peas were sold at an average sh700 a kilo.
