KENNETH Kamyuka’s energised performance was Tornado’s main spoil, imposing himself on top of all the bowlers as he spurred Africa Cricket Club (ACC) to victory in the cricket league Sunday.

Kamyuka was the man to beat as he raced to his maiden century off 80 balls that included 12 boundaries for ACC to storm the super five stage of the Castle Lager league brimming with confidence after an emphatic 80-run victory over champions Tornado at Lugogo.

It was Africa who finished the first round unbeaten after that victory over three-time Castle league champions Tornado.

Castle XI, Tornado B, Wanderers, cup holders Tornado and table leaders Africa will play in the super five while JACC, Nile, Patidar and new comers Rounders play in the plate cup.

ACC underlined their strength to win the league with a powerful batting display that exposed Tornado’s bowlers, especially the spinners.

Captain Lawrence Sematimba again showed why he is so highly regarded on the local scene with the perfect team selection and batting line-up that left Tornado skipper Keith Legesi regretting the decision to field first.

The fact that Tornado batsmen gave away their wickets so cheaply was another revelation for the national team’s failure to live up to pressure and play sensible cricket.

Legesi, who opened the batting, kept swinging his bat until he conceded a catch inside the 30-yard, just like Nehal Bibodi.

Baig Akbar and Benjamin Musoke were run out while Joel Olweny was clean bowled by Ronald Semanda, who also ensured Frank Nsubuga leaves the crease for a golden duck.

In the super five to be played in early September, Africa CC will play Tornado B while the desperate Tornado will take on Sam Walusimbi’s Wanderers in the fight for top honours.
