IN sportsmanship spirit, Kampala City Council (KCC) men’s volleyball club Sunday accepted the supremacy of league champions Sport-S after a 3-2 loss at Nsambya.

In the game that lasted over two hours, Sport-S charged from two sets down to condemn KCC to a third straight loss which puts them in a fight to avoid relegation from serie A.

Sport-S now lead the six-team table with 16 points while KCC remain tucked in fourth place with eight.

Despite the good form of Hassan Sekajoolo, Jeff Lwalanda (above shirt 12) and Zed Muzungu, that had KCC lead the first two sets 25-17 41-39, they lost others including the decisive set 20-25 23-25 14-16.

“We have to accept that they were a better side. They had the ability to force our players to lose concentration,” a top player said after the match.

“Definitely KCC has to consider hiring a coach to address such cases. We did not have someone to re-direct the team,” Sekajoolo said after the match.

Cobap defeated Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC) junior sides Cubs and Veterans 3-0.

In the only women’s encounter of the weekend, KAVC continued their good form with a 3-0 win over Nkumba University to stay top of the table with 19 points.

This requires third-placed Nkumba and KCC, third from bottom of seven teams, to win their next games in order to qualify for the play offs.
