THE highly billed return of super bantamweight Sande Mohamed Kizito has finally been confirmed following a Kampala Central division and Simba Telecom sponsorship offer.

The former Australia-based professional takes on Kenya’s Twalib “Tank” Mubiru in a potentially explosive Africa Boxing Union (ABU) elimination fight at Sabrina’s Pub.

The division, headed by former boxer Godfrey Nyakana, has offered sh0.5m while Simba Telecom has given $200 through their marketing manager Basil Tyaba.

The 10-round contest was earlier on scheduled for last weekend but was postponed because of other prize fighting engagements in Kenya.

“All is now set for a showdown,” Big Strikers Promotions director Emmanuel Mwesigwa announced yesterday.

The bout will be Kizito’s second fight in Uganda since he knocked out Tyson Sekalema last year following his homecoming in 2002.

Kizito (8-2-1) and Mubiru (7-1-1) will mount the ring evenly matched in a fight that pundits say should keep fans on the seat edge.

Among the five under-cards is the debut of Solomon Bogere who takes on Sekalema in a six-round lightweight bout.

In middleweight, David Kitooke takes on Charles Kakande in another 10-rounder, while Kazimiri Omona meets Hassan Haruna in welterweight.

In another welterweight bout, Benjamin Waibale faces Farouk Daku while Remmy Iga meets Mude Ntambi in bantamweight.
