THE African Leadership Institute (AFLI) is to expose the voting pattern of MPs, to make them accountable to their constituents, reports Mariam Nalunkuuma.

AFLI executive director Oscar Okech said the parliamentary performance scorecard audit report of the first session of the 8th parliament was to monitor voting patterns. “We want the public, who vote for the MPs, to understand how MPs also vote on pertinent issues in parliament and whether they are usually in the interests of those they represent,” Okech said.

He was on Monday speaking at a community workshop for selected constituencies debating the scorecard audit report of the 7th parliament. Okech said debates would also be held in Nyabushozi, Aruu and Bukedea.

“We want to hold MPs accountable. After elections, constituents never get to know what the MPs are doing. Once elected, many abandon the views of those who voted for them and vote in personal and party interests,” Okech said.
