THE Arua-born siamese twins admitted to Mulago Hospital recently have died, hospital spokesperson Eliphaz Ssekabira said yesterday.

Ssekabira said Grace and Winnie had been under medical care in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit when they passed away on Monday.

Born a month ago, the girls were recently transferred to Mulago Hospital courtesy of Dairo Air, owned by Capt. Roy and his wife Daisy.

The twins had been admitted and doctors were still observing them to establish whether it was possible to operate them locally or send them abroad.

Their parents, Harriet Acuu and Jacob Ocama, have also been in the ICU undergoing counselling, Ssekabira said.

Conjoined at the chest and abdomen, the babies were delivered by caesarean section in a 40-minute operation led by the Kuluva Hospital medical superintendent, Dr. Patrick Kerchan.
