FUFA has written to world football governing body FIFA seeking clearance for CHOGM soccer tournament due next year

FUFA has written to world football governing body FIFA seeking clearance for CHOGM soccer tournament due next year, reports Swalley Kenyi.

FUFA media committee chairman Rogers Mulindwa said the federation had written to head of FIFA competitions Jim Brown seeking permission for the cup.

Addressing the press at Mengo yesterday Mulindwa denied the federation had granted event organisers Ball International Group (BIG) a go ahead.

At a similar briefing last week FUFA publicist Aldrine Nsubuga said BIG chief Ben Misagga will meet FUFA president Lawrence Mulindwa over the event.

“Until we get clarification from FIFA, we can’t risk sanctioning the event. BIG should be patient,” Mulindwa asserted.

Article nine of the FIFA statute on competitions states that all tournaments involving more than two regional teams from different confederations requires authorisation of FIFA.
