GEOFFREY Massa produced an irresistible performance against Egyptian league side Aluminia to remind Niger of what to expect on October 8. The Cranes fleet-footed forward struck twice in either half to inspire his side El Shams to a 2-0 win in the Egyptian league on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old, who has since scored eight goals in eight league matches, said:
“It’s the kind of performance I wanted. I just want to keep my scoring form into the Niger game,” Massa, who returns to Kampala Sunday, said on phone.

El Shams are third on the Egyptian league table with 20 points, behind Al Ahly (24) and MPP (21).

Massa (above) notched twice as Cranes romped to a 3-0 victory in their first Nations Cup qualifier against Lesotho on September 2.

Cranes will have to overcome Niger to fortify their chances of making Ghana as group three winners or best losers.

Rwanda-based winger Alimansi Kadogo, who turns out for APR FC, has also impressed since joining the national side.
His pace, control, skill, agility and powerful striking make him arguably Cranes best choice at the left side of midfield in case Kaizer Chiefs ace David Obua does not fully recover from his inflated hamstring injury.

Meanwhile, four Nigerian-born players have naturalised to play for Niger against Uganda. They include Kamilou Garba, an Ibadan indigene from Oyo State; Segun Reuben from Kogi State; the duo of Mallam Musa and Hamisu Sule from Katsina State and Jimmy Bulus from Plateau.

The Mena squad is made up largely of the national Under-20 team that lost to Cameroon in the African Youth Championship qualifier on the away goals rule early this year.

Uganda leads the group on three points ahead of Nigeria on ogal difference.
