Kenya 10-day tour
Three-day tie
Day 1:
Kenya 316-9
Uganda 19-2 (close of play)
(L. Sematimba 9*, J. Olweny 3*)
Day 2: 9.30am

JOEL Olweny and Lawrence Sematimba will have to ensure that Uganda avoids another defeat against Kenya today.
Uganda faces an uphill struggle to score at least 167 runs after day one of the three-day tie yesterday saw the hosts chasing leather around the Lugogo oval.
Veteran batsman Steve Tikolo (74), who was dropped by Keith Legesi at 30 runs and youngster Maurice Ouma (62), ensured a fourth stand of 102 runs. this steadied Kenya’s innings after their opener Kennedy Otieno was dismissed by Mark Taremwa for a duck.
Kenya amassed 316-9 in their maximum 90 overs with Tanmay Mishra (56) and Thomas Odoyo (58) playing sensibly before falling to the spin attack of Frank Nsubuga (2-79-27) and Davis Arinaitwe (3-37-8) respectively.
Uganda started the chase on a false note with Jimmy Okello dismissed (lbw) by Thomas Odoyo for a duck as Hamza Saleh, who was on pressure after surviving being bowled off Odoyo’s no ball, succumbed to a Peter Ongondo delivery.
Sematimba (left), who showed maturity with the bat infront of Kenya’s pace attack, was unbeaten at nine runs together with Olweny (3*) at close of play.
The two, possibly the best on the team, resume Uganda’s batting today.
