Uganda’s all-year warm climate is suitable for men who wear vests to absorb sweat and prevent wet spots from showing on their shirts.
Once, only soldiers and sportsmen wore vests, but today, the undershirts are a must-have in many men’s wardrobes.

Vests must be made from a light material and should make the wearer comfortable. While some men feel naked when they do not wear vests underneath their shirts, others walk on the streets wearing only vests.

When choosing an ideal undergarment you should consider the quality and colour of the material. Cotton vests at Lulu’s Lingerie shop, Grand Imperial Shopping Arcade, cost sh15, 000.
They are thin and soft, yet can absorb sweat. They come in white or gray, which are appropriate colours for men’s under garment.
Colours like pink, orange and green are not appropriate because they tend to shout.

Always check the label on the undergarment for Lycra or Pima variants of cotton because they do not shrink upon washing and do not require ironing. Smart Guys’ Boutique at Pioneer Mall sells cotton vests at sh5, 000 each. They are thick and have seams around the collar, so they tend to stand out more. Such vests can be worn alone or left to show when the shirt is unbuttoned.

Smart Guys also sells men’s undergarments including Nautica brand. Briefs and boxers cost sh12, 000 for a set of three. They are finished in such a way that they will neither cut through your skin nor show through trousers.

Man About Town on Entebbe Road and Uchumi Supermarket at Garden City shopping mall sell undershirts at sh5,000 each. Garden City sells a variety of men’s undergarment: The first-class executive stockings here are made from the finest threads and are toughened at the heels and toes to cater for durability.
