ASSAF Natan overcame a strong field to win the national enduro motorcycling championship in Jinja on Saturday.

The Open class champion, who won the first round in Mabira in January, proved a class apart at the rough course near Bujagali falls to seal victory with overall 40 points.

“It was very interesting. Many riders gave me a lot of pressure. I am glad I worked hard,” remarked Natan after the race. The Israelite promised to do better in the Kenya Motorcross due next month.

Arthur Blick shrugged off an injury to come second overall with 34 points ahead of another Israelite, Barak Orland.

Mechanical engineering firm, Bluesky international sponsored the 100km event that thrilled a mammoth crowd at a special stage near Bujagali.

As usual, it was ‘dare devil’ Wycliff Bukenya who took centre stage with a surprise third place finish in the senior category.

The Entebbe motorcycling club veteran rider was nearly counted out when he fell off his bike 50 meters from start stalling his engine.

But the veteran roared back after five minutes. He first rolled the machine back the to starting point, fidgeted a bit with it and took off again.

Disbelieving spectators cheered on wildly when a beaming Bukenya turned up at the finish among the top five riders after a 10km loop.
