FIFA construction agent Sophocles Sophocleous has recommended that a synthetic pitch be built at either Nakivubo or Mandela Stadium Namboole next year.
Sophocleous made the verdict after he inspected Mandela, Nakivubo and Wankulukuku yesterday. He was accompanied by FUFA vice-president Justus Mugisha and Nakivubo manager Eugene Ssemujju.
He said that Namboole would cost less to construct while Nakivubo’s proximity to town was an advantage.
“Namboole will cost less and little time because it has drainage and other facilities that Nakivubo does not have. I will indicate that in my report to FIFA,†Sophocleous said.
Sophocleous said that Uganda would benefit from the FIFA project together with Rwanda and Burundi next October. The FIFA project aims at building all-weather standard facilities world wide.
