Bus operators should not relocate to Nateete bus terminal, the city resident district commissioner (RDC) and his deputies have said.
They said the operators should seek court redress in the matter.
Kampala RDC Stanley Kinyatta said the five bus companies that had spent close to sh2b constructing another terminal in Kisenyi, should not heed to Kampala City Council (KCC’s) order to relocate.
The companies are Gateway Bus Services, Perfect Coaches, Savana Transporters, Swift safaris and S.B. He said those which park on city streets should use the Nateete terminal.
“KCC sold their operational place, the former Buganda Bus Park, without giving them an alternative. It asked them to construct a terminal and now that they have spent a lot of money developing it, they want them relocated. Will KCC compensate them?” he asked.
Last week, KCC directed buses from the west to use the Nateete terminal to decongest the city. Bus operators criticised KCC for not notifying them about the new terminal.
