Diplock Segawa, the Jimmy Katumba sing-alike from the 1990s group, Diplock Segawa and The Wrens, is breaking a six-year silence with a new album, which will be released at the end of this month. But before that, he will release his comeback single, Nkomyewo (I’m back).

In this song, he will thank whoever played a part in his upbringing. Segawa is famous for his classic, Sooka Omunoonye, which is usually played at weddings and introduction ceremonies. He backs up his songs with contemporary local pop. The songs were written and produced by Segawa, Travis Kazibwe and Sam Kadume from Color Studios in East London.

Segawa’s music career started in Mirembe Family Choir in the late 1980s. He recorded his first songs in Nairobi and London’s Croydon Studio. Segawa took part in European festivals with his group, The Wrens. Apart from composing his songs, Segawa is also song writer at Gold Disc Productions and Iquana Studios in the UK.
