US Olympic gold medallist Tiffany Roberts has called for more help from all stakeholders in promoting sports, especially among the youth.

Tiffany, a three time World Women World Cup player, yesterday concluded a three-day working trip to Uganda with Curt Onalfo, the assistant coach of the US national soccer team.

“As long as they (women footballers) have support, they will make great players. This will improve their lives as it will get them active, build their self esteem, leadership and communication qualities,” said Tiffany at a cocktail in their honour at Hotel Africana Wednesday evening.

She said she saw a future in women football and confessed that they have not only taught the players basics, but have also learnt more from the trip.
“I hope we come again!”

Onalfo said that the skills and talent of the local players was good, judging from the clinics held in Masaka and Kampala. They were to hold another one in Jinja yesterday.

“The talent and enthusiasm is good. What we now need is the technical approach,” said Onalfo.

The two are in the country courtesy of US Soccer, the Sate Department and the US Embassy in Uganda.

Education ministry, Uganda Olympic Committee, NCS, FUFA, US embassy staff and other sports administrators attended the dinner.
