A dormitory for girls of Kampala school for the physically handicapped in Mengo was on thursday opened by nabagereka Sylvia Nagginda.
The 50-bed dormitory was funded by donations from the family of Dr. Michael Otto, a German, Roofings Uganda and Allied Bank through the Nabagereka development Foundation.
Nagginda said Ugandans should take bolder steps to better the lives of children with disabilities.
“Our desire to strengthen the lives of marginalised people cannot be fully achieved when many babies do not have proper health care, when most HIV/AIDS victims do not have access to essential drugs, when women are still subject to violence and when children with disabilities are overlooked,” she said.
The school director, Joy Mwesigwa, said the school which was opened in 1962, had groomed many responsible citizens.
